Take a glimpse into one of the ⅚ classrooms over the past three days and you’ll see students building icosahedrons, playing group games, creating self-portrait collages as well as hearing discussions about the characteristics of teamwork and laughter during get-to-know-you activities. We are intentionally spending the first few weeks in homerooms in order to build community and hold our classes close before regular math and Spanish classes begin. Next week, students will begin either an exploration of social studies or science with their homeroom teachers (Lynn and Peter are teaching a course titled “Explorations and Revolutions” and Lauren and Rachel are teaching Earth systems science). You’ll hear more about our program at Back to School Night on September 3 at 6:30pm. Please look for a packet of information regarding our outdoor education trip to 100 Elk near Buena Vista. It will be coming home with your student on Monday, August 24th. Thank you in advance for your quick turn around on returning necessary forms as we work to make this experience a meaningful, safe and fun learning opportunity for all of our ⅚ students.
